Gruppo Mastrotto at IULTCS Eurocongress 2022

We are attending the III IULTCS EuroCongress, the international event sponsored by the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies and the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC) which this year, September 18-20, is held in Vicenza with the title “Rinascimento: the Next Leather Generation”.

The event was designed to explore the future of technologies applied to leather processing and stands out as a point of reference for the international promotion of the unique qualities of this material, which is a food by-product that the tanning industry is able to upgrade and transforms into fine, strong, and long-lasting material, carrying out a true circular economy action.

Our company thus presents the results of an original research developed by Dott. Giorgio Pozza, which focuses on advanced analytic techniques aimed at product sustainability, within the Methods and tests on chemical products and leather: new developments and approaches panel. Gruppo Mastrotto has, indeed, always turned innovation into one of its own drivers which have led it, almost   65 years since its establishment, to become one of the main industrial groups in the field.

As an example, we can mention the Biobased certification: as a matter of fact, Gruppo Mastrotto – first tanning industry in the world ever to perform such action – has had its leather tested for the Biobased measurement, certified by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  The Biobased percentage represents the organic carbon derived from renewable material, compared to fossil carbon that, in the case of the leather by the Gruppo, ranges between 75 and 95%.

Another remarkable result of the researches carried out within the Gruppo consists in the antibacterial and antiviral treatment: following a number of laboratory tests that verified its effectiveness, our Research and Development department actually designed and developed in-house, and then patented, a new exclusive treatment able to prevent bacteria and viruses from surviving on leather, with a 99.9% efficient protection level.

These are just some recent examples of what has been achieved through constant commitment to research and to the development of new solutions and products.
