At a seminar held at CUOA IMPRESA and entitled "Qualitative and Dimensional Growth of Companies in the Veneto", CONFINDUSTRIA VENETO SIAV presented the book "Growth Strategies of Medium-Sized Companies", edited by Il Sole24Ore. The book deals with dimensional growth as a factor in competitiveness. It attempts to identify the obstacles which block expansion and, more significantly, ways that businesses can avail themselves of opportunities leading to growth. Beginning with an analysis of related economic literature as well as several important case studies, the book reveals how the "dimensional question" really expresses a general problem--one that forces companies to innovate at better and higher levels, given the present competitive scenario. This perspective requires neither an increase in production scale nor an expansion of the company's physical confines. Rather, a company must develop local and international business networks, increase its technical and managerial capacities, and strengthen its position in the value chain.
